For many people who have never blogged before, publishing their own thoughts on the Internet for over 3.2 billion people is a daunting task. This fear is causing people to give up before they even started. If that fear is also affecting you then you are placing a barrier between your current self and the digital nomad’s lifestyle that you’re wishing for.
You probably heard the saying “the first step to success is getting started,” however, getting started is often the most difficult task. In fact, most people love finding excuses to not having to leave their comfort zone. Here are some the reasons and excuses that might be stopping you from taking action towards your goals.

My ideas are not original
Many times, you might feel your posts are not all that great, somewhat superficial or someone already said the same thing. Unfortunately, there are very few original ideas left on earth. Many people’s work, whether they are writers or musicians, are not original! They are borrowed from something already done. Have you ever noticed that scripts for television or motion pictures are often the same theme and storyline as something done before? Even the most talented people are not immune from taking other’s copy and coming up with their own twist to it.
Accept the fact that you will always run into material that has already been put down on paper. You can incorporate your own creativity and slant to the subject matter to make it yours. The art of creativity begins with copying, changing, and then finally combining them with your own take on the topic.
People will think I am weird for blogging
In order to be a successful blogger, you must have a certain amount of passion and dedication to drive your thoughts. And if your ultimate goal is to achieve the freedom and the lifestyle of making money online, then why would you care about what the 9-5 people think about you?
Stop worrying about whether your friends think you are not conforming to their specifications. Rejoice in being different, it’s a part of who you are. There will always be those that will criticize the way you walk, the way you talk, and how you are not like them. But the question is why should you be?
I don’t have time
Unfortunately, too many bloggers never get off the ground because they make excuses, they are too busy, too tired or they will have to sacrifice time for their family and friends. Blogging does take a great deal of time and commitment and you must be prepared for it.
Decide to make the time, stop playing video games or watching television. If you want to achieve greatness, you owe it to yourself to give it your best shot. Over time, you might just discover that you have earned the respect you deserve!
I’m not a genius
There are many times that others think if someone is successful, they are some kind of genius. Don’t allow myths to get in the way of achieving your goals, genius is an overrated word. Remember, hard work will always beat talent when talent doesn’t work hard. Unless you’re not willing to put in the work, otherwise not being a genius is not an excuse for not doing something.
I can’t write
Guess what? The reason why you can’t write is because you never practiced. And if you don’t do it now, you will never be able to write. You can always ask Mr. Google to teach you how to write better. If you still feel you just don’t have what it takes to put words on paper, you should consider being a video blogger. Video blogging has become a very hot niche covering everything from dog walking to fashion and just about everything in between.
A blog has to be perfect
No one is perfect so stop thinking if you are not perfect you will fail. You are not going to have a “perfect” blog that has no grammatical errors or misspelled words. In your mind, you might think your articles are flawed and just do not flow well. You battle with them, try and rearrange them, then read through them one more time before closing your eyes and hitting the publish button.
Here is the thing, you have a great advantage in the digital world which is superior to the days of the printed word. Once published for the world to read, you can always go back in, hit the “edit” button, and update your latest work of art!
Stop finding excuses
Along with passion and determination, writing takes practice. The more you write the better your skills will be. No one in life just picks up a pen and writes like Hemingway or Stephen King. It takes time along with many errors to improve your skills but if you keep at it, you will find the success you are looking for. The solution is just get started. The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, and you’ll never reach your desired destination if you don’t start walking.
