Since I post a lot of content about entrepreneurship and business, I have found that a lot of my followers @entrepreneurshipfacts are eager to start a business. However, many do not know what to start, or lack the capital required to do what they really want, and many have little if any experience in business. I was in that situation just two years ago. I always knew a corporate 9-to-5, sitting in a cubicle is not my thing. Despite graduated university with a business degree, I started exploring online businesses.
As I did, one of the things I found most difficult about growing an online business is driving traffic. In fact, you don’t even need to have any products or a proper business model to make money online. All you need is to master the skill of driving high quality traffic, and I guarantee you, there will be ways to make money.
What I mean by quality traffic is finding people who has a specific problem and bring them to a website with the solution they are looking for. You can bring a million people to a website selling chocolate; but if none of those people like chocolate, you are unlikely to get any sales. Not a likely scenario, I know – but you get the point. If you are able to find just a thousand people who love chocolate to the site, your conversion will be much higher.
Sounds simple, right? The concept definitely is. But the skill takes a lot of time to learn. As the saying goes, “If it was easy, everyone would have done it.” So it is no coincidence that this is where most people fail in creating an online business. Most people dive right in with their first online business venture, creating their own fancy website or e-commerce store… and then no one visits. If you started an online business before, and still haven’t made any money then you know exactly what I am talking about. You could have a great product to sell, but you won’t make any money unless you can find people who are willing to pay for it.
One of the first online businesses I started was selling t-shirts through platforms such as Etsy, Amazon, Redbubble, Teepublic, etc. I believe that is still the perfect business model for anyone who wants to make money online but has no experience, almost no money, and little knowledge of online marketing. This is arguably the easiest way to build a business and make money online for complete beginners. The reason is because it solves the problem outline above: Large platforms like Etsy and Amazon give you access to hundreds of millions of high-quality customers. Driving traffic becomes much easier than having your own website. The people on these platforms want to spend money. That’s why they go on the websites mentioned and search for the products they are looking for. Given you have the right products, your job is to just simply be the top results of whatever they are searching. If you’re one of those who failed at making money online before, or a complete beginner, then this is something I would definitely recommend.
